This is probably a good thing though, as you want it to be as rock solid as possible. Moving the display between the notebook and display options can prove a little, given the strength of the magnetised mechanism.
The middle mode is said to be for creatives who wish to draw on the 13.5″ display with a stylus. Sticking with the Folio design, the display is hinged at the back and facilitates three different modes – regular notebook, pull forward display and tablet. That said, it is a little heftier thanks to the new Folio element, and is definitely over the 1kg mark, which is one of the selling points of previous devices. Unfortunately though, no precise percentage has been mentioned in terms of how much of the device is indeed made from recycled materials.Īs for how the device feels, it is certainly a premium offering, as has been the case in past Dragonfly notebooks we have reviewed. He also emphasised that the Dragonfly Folio G3 is the company’s most important device to date from a sustainability perspective, as it features a vegan leather cover, a recycled magnesium and aluminium chassis, as well as some plastic components comprised from ocean-bound plastics. Speaking during one of the Q&A sessions at the event, HP’s president for personal systems, Alex Cho, noted that the company will be ramping up efforts to filter down this design and performance to a more affordable price bracket. We got some time to get hands-on with the new offering, which is also set to be the blueprint for many of HP’s notebooks moving forward. This took the form of its new Dragonfly Folio G3 notebook, which is the first in the company’s Dragonfly lineup to sport a convertible design.
While the two-day long event itself focused on HP’s strategy in terms of engaging with channel partners and pushing its sustainability objectives, it also afforded us the opportunity to see some premium new hardware.
